Former President has committed $1.8 million in research funding for the next academic year to launch the Children's Bridge initiative. The Research Enhancement Program funds are to seed projects that will support Wayne State University's goal of becoming a leader in the area of urban children's research. Administration on Children, Youth, and Family (ACYF)
The Administration on Children, Youth, and Family (ACYF) is a part of ACF under the Department of Health and Human Services. The ACF has multiple national work priorities including: Welfare Reform, Child Support, Child Care, Infants and Toddlers, Head Start, and Child Welfare. Some of the programs administered in the Michigan Region include: Temporary Assistance to Needy Families, Child Support Enforcement, Head Start, Child Care and Development, Runaway and Homeless Youth, and Developmental Disabilities. Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC)
The Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) is recognized as one of the leading federal agency for protecting the health and safety of people - at home and abroad by providing credible information to enhance health decisions and promoting health through strong partnerships. CDC focuses on developing and applying disease prevention and control, environmental health, health promotion, and educational activities designed to improve the health of the people of the United States. Children's Research Center of Michigan
The MISSION of the CRCM is to promote knowledge in the art and science of medicine in order to improve methods to prevent, cure and treat childhood diseases. To achieve these goals, the CRCM provides an environment that supports scientific inquiry in association with a training-ground for biomedical researchers, including clinicians, basic science investigators, postdoctoral fellows, residents, medical and graduate students. The CRCM grant program provides financial support for new research projects relevant to the mission of the Children’s Research Center of Michigan and the Children’s Hospital of Michigan.

Department of Education

National Institute of Child Health and Human Development (NICHD)
The mission of the NICHD is to ensure that every person is born healthy and wanted, that women suffer no harmful effects from the reproductive process, and that all children have the chance to fulfill their potential for a healthy and productive life, free of disease or disability. To reach this goal, the NICHD: Conducts and supports laboratory research, clinical trials, and studies with people that explore health processes. National Institute of Health (NIH)
The National Institutes of Health (NIH) is one of the world's foremost medical research centers. National Institute of Justice (NIJ)
NIJ is the research, development, and evaluation agency of the U.S. Department of Justice and is solely dedicated to researching crime control and justice issues. National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH)
The National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH) is one of the Federal government's principal biomedical and behavioral research agency. The NIMH mission is to reduce the burden of mental illness and behavioral disorders through research on the mind, brain, and behavior. To fulfill this mission, the Institute: conducts research on mental disorders and the underlying basic science of brain and behavior; supports research on these topics at universities and hospitals around the United States; collects, analyzes, and disseminates information on the causes, occurrence, and treatment of mental illnesses; supports the training of more than 1,000 scientists to carry out basic and clinical research; and communicates information to scientists, the public, the news media, and primary care and mental health professionals about mental illnesses, the brain, mental health, and research in these areas. National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke (NINDS)
The National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke (NINDS) conducts and supports research on brain and nervous system disorders. The mission of NINDS is to reduce the burden of neurological disease—a burden borne by every age group, every segment of society, and people all over the world. To accomplish this goal the NINDS supports and conducts research, both basic and clinical, on the normal and diseased nervous system, fosters the training of investigators in the basic and clinical neurosciences, and seeks better understanding, diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of neurological disorders. National Institute on Drug Abuse (NIDA)
The National Institute on Drug Abuse has the mission to lead the Nation in bringing the power of science to bear on drug abuse and addiction. NIDA supports over 85 percent of the world's research on the health aspects of drug abuse and addiction. NIDA supported science addresses the most fundamental and essential questions about drug abuse, ranging from the molecule to managed care, and from DNA to community outreach research.
